Family owned and operated since 1963
Owen and Evelyn Brisbois opened Fairlane Fire Prevention in 1963. Owen, an already 5-year seasoned fire extinguisher service technician, was the sole technician and salesperson. Evelyn was the secretary and bookkeeper working from their home-based office. The company started with a full-service fire extinguisher recharging shop. The 1960's was a very specialized time for fire prevention with each company only providing one service ie: fire extinguisher servicing, fire alarm system servicing, or sprinkler system servicing.
Owen and Evelyn's son Larry started working Saturdays with Owen at an early age and grew into the business. He officially joined Fairlane Fire Prevention in 1973 as their second fire equipment technician. Over the years as they built a trusting relationship with their clients, Fairlane Fire Prevention expanded to add the servicing of fire alarm systems, sprinkler/standpipe systems, emergency lighting systems, fire hoses, fire hydrants, backflow preventors, parkade carbon monoxide detection systems, and fire safety plans. In 1980 Larry took over as general manager. Larry's wife, Lynda, joined the company as an office administrator and fire safety planner working closely with Evelyn in 1990. |
As was family tradition, Larry's two daughters also started working Saturdays at an early age with Larry. His eldest daughter, Alyssa, joined the company as an office administrator in 2007, followed by his younger daughter, Casandra, in 2014. Since then, Alyssa has risen to the position of office manager.
Fairlane Fire Prevention remains family owned and operated to this day. Their team has grown since 1963 to included more A.S.T.T. certified technicians that are known to be the most diversely trained in the lower mainland.
